Privacy Policy

HintDeck takes a deliberately small data approach: we collect what we need to run the service, and not much else. This page explains what we collect, what we do with it, who we share it with, and your choices.

What we collect

Account info. When you sign up, we store your email address and a Supabase-managed authentication record. If you start a paid plan, our payment processor (Stripe) stores your billing details; we receive a customer ID and subscription metadata, never your card number.

Tooltip content. Whatever you author in the dashboard — selectors, titles, body markdown — is stored on our servers so we can serve it to your visitors.

Page-load events. When the HintDeck runtime loads on a customer's site and resolves at least one tooltip-anchor, the runtime sends a small beacon to our API containing only the site's public key and a count of resolved anchors. We do not set cookies, fingerprint visitors, or store IP addresses with these events. We use the beacons solely to compute monthly tooltip-view totals for your plan meter.

Operational logs. Cloudflare and Vercel keep request logs (IP, user-agent, path, status code) for routine operational and security purposes. These are retained briefly per their standard policies.

What we don't do

We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising. We do not track visitors to your customer sites across the web. We do not require cookies on your visitors' browsers for the runtime to function.

Service providers

We rely on a small set of trusted vendors to run the service. Each receives only the information they need to do their job:

• Supabase — managed Postgres + auth (account info, tooltip content).
• Cloudflare — CDN, edge cache, R2 object storage for raw event beacons.
• Vercel — hosts our marketing site and dashboard.
• Stripe — payment processing for paid plans.

Your choices

You can export your tooltip content or delete your account at any time. If you want a copy of all data we hold about you, or you'd like us to delete it, email hello@hintdeck.com from your account address and we'll respond within 30 days.

You can update your billing details and cancel your subscription at any time through the customer portal in the dashboard.

Changes

When we make material changes to this policy we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, email account holders.
